ATM Networking:
The majority of ATMs are linked to interbank networks, enabling people
to withdraw or deposit money from machines that do not belonging to the
bank where they hold accounts. This convenience makes it possible for
people who are traveling to withdrawal cash from areas where their bank
branches are not available. ATMs also make it possible to withdraw local
currency in a foreign country, often at better exchange rates than they
would receive by changing cash.
Authorization by the card issuer or authorizing institution must be
complete before any transaction via the communications network is
carried out by the ATM.
